(Cupertino, CA) -- Burberry's CEO will trade trenchcoats for technology next year. Angela Ahrendts is leaving the British luxury goods maker for Apple.

She'll settle into a newly created position of vice president of retail and online stores.

Ahrendts has been with Burberry for about a decade and will work her way out of the job gradually over the next few months to ensure a smooth transition. Burberry's chief creative officer Christopher Bailey will replace her.
