(New York, NY)  --  A book-scanning lawsuit against Internet giant Google is being dismissed.
A judge in Manhattan ruled yesterday that Google's scanning of more than 20-million books, and making limited amounts of text available online, is "fair use" under copyright law.

A group of authors and publishers sued in 2005, after Google signed agreements with several major research libraries to digitize current and out-of-print works.  An appeal is reportedly planned.
