(New York, NY)  --  If small owners want to compete with the big boys, they better start opening their stores on Thanksgiving.

That's the advice from business consultant Gene Marks, who says "Open on Thanksgiving" is a growing trend.  Marks says stores that want to compete with the 24-7 shopping experience offered by larger retailers will have to open their doors on Thanksgiving.

Among the stores that will be open for business on Turkey Day are Macy's, Best Buy, J.C. Penny, Kmart and Walmart.  Stores that will be closed Thursday include Nordstrom, Dillard's, Home Depot, Costco and Marshalls.
