(Undated) -- It appears Tyson Foods wins the battle to buy the company that makes Jimmy Dean sausages. The "New York Times" and the "Wall Street Journal" report that Tyson, the nation's biggest meat processor, has outbid Pilgrim's Pride in the competition to buy Hillshire Brands.
In addition to Jimmy Dean sausages, Hillshire's products include Ball Park hot dogs, Hillshire Farms lunch meats and Sara Lee desserts. Tyson's winning bid is said to be worth $7.7 billion dollars. That's about a billion more than the last offer from Pilgrim's Pride.
