(KFYI News) The Justice Department along with Arizona Attorney General Tom Horne and attorneys general from five other states and Washinton DC have sued to block the proposed $11-billion dollar merger between US Airways and Americans Airlines.

US Attorney General Eric Holder hopes for an agreement before the suit goes to trial in three weeks.

Holder says any resolution in the case includes divestitures of facilities at key constrained airports throughout the United States. In August, The two airlines secured approval from the European Union after promising to surrender gates in Philadelphia and at London's Heathrow Airport.
