(Palo Alto, CA) -- Tesla's CEO says the electric car company will not be putting the Model S in reverse.

Despite three vehicle fires in the last six weeks, Elon Musk tells the "New York Times" there will be no recall. Musk says the headlines are misleading and that there is one fire for every 1,300 gas-powered cars compared to one in eight-thousand for the Model S.

Last month a Model S caught fire after hitting a metal object on a Seattle highway, in Mexico one burned after a high-speed crash and in Tennessee the vehicle was set ablaze after striking a trailer hitch in the road.
