Arpaio Contempt Case Dismissed

A U.S. District Court judge is accepting President Trump's pardon of former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio.  Arpaio's attorneys, along with Department of Justice lawyers asked a federal judge to dismiss Arpaio's July conviction of criminal contempt of court for failing to follow a judge's order in a racial profiling case.

Judge Susan Bolton dismissed the verdict with prejudice, forbidding prosecutors from refiling the same charges again.

A separate request from Arpaio's defense team is asking that all rulings and orders in the case also be dismissed.  That motion was taken under advisement by the judge.
