Grand Canyon University Pushes Back On Criticism

Grand Canyon University President Brian Mueller is pushing back against criticism that the school's conversion back to nonprofit status means less tax revenue for local public schools.  Nonprofit colleges and universities don't pay property taxes, although CGU's parent company, Grand Canyon Education, will continue to pay them.  Mueller tells the Phoenix Business Journal the amount of money the school was paying in property taxes as a for-profit was unsustainable and it was either revert to nonprofit or close.
