The Satanic Temple of Arizona is going to give the invocation at a Sahuarita Town Council meeting in September. Sahuarita is about 15-miles south of Tucson. The short speech or prayer at the beginning of a council meeting is typically done by a religious leader or group.
The Satanic Temple is a nontheistic religious and political activist group formed in 2016, and is separate from the church of Satan. The group filed a lawsuit against Scottsdale last year for religious discrimination after the city barred them from delivering an invocation at a City Council meeting.
