Arrest In Hacienda Healthcare Case

Phoenix Police have arrested 36-year old Nathan Sutherland in connection with the Hacienda Healthcare investigation. He's being charged with one count of sexual assault and one count of vulnerable adult abuse.

The arrest comes after a patient at the facility gave birth to a baby in late December.  The patient is incapacitated and has been at Hacienda Healthcare for over two decades.

Sutherland is a licensed nurse who was working at Hacienda Healthcare with access to the patient. Phoenix Police also said he submitted a DNA sample under a court order.  The DNA and as Chief Jerry Williams said, 'good old fashioned police work' led to the arrest.

Governor Doug Ducey telling 550 KFYI's Mike Broomhead he applauds the great work of the Phoenix Police Department.  Ducey also said he also wants to make something like this never happens again.
