Turf Paradise Expands Exams For Horses

(Phoenix, AZ) -- Turf Paradise in Phoenix is expanding pre-race veterinary exams for its horses, following a spike in horse fatalities last season. Beginning March 18th, all horses racing on a given day will receive an exam. The new policy is part of an effort to provide the safest conditions possible for horses and riders. Turf Paradise says there were 27 horse fatalities there last year as a result of racing. Eighteen other deaths were related to training or illness.
