(KFYI News) -- Brian Hulsey got the death penalty today for shooting Glendale police officer Anthony Holly in 2007. Holly's mother, Nancy Bonner said she's both glad and heartbroken.
"We feel a sense of relief, certainly, that Tony's killer will never see a free day and he will never hurt anybody again," she said. "But our Tony -- our wonderful Tony -- is not coming home."
Bernie Holly, Anthony's father, said he's also glad about the verdict. However, he said he also feels bad for Hulsey's family, since they'll also lose a son
Glendale police chief Debora Black said the verdict does not completely erase the pain of losing a fellow officer. She also said it was a long time in coming.
Hulsey also received nine years for attempted murder. He was convicted last month of first-degree murder.
