Sex Trafficking Study Under Fire

Sex Trafficking Study Under Fire
Posted August 27th, 2014 @ 3:50pm

(KFYI News) The study reportedly found 100 percent of Arizona men who buy sex with minors are never charged with sex trafficking. Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery says the study is bad science.

"There are serious methodological problems with that study," he said. "We can't find out where they got some of their numbers from. They won't share with us the 24 cases they say come from Arizona."

Shared Hope International also claimed men convicted of paying minors for sex in Arizona only serve an average of 90 days out of a possible four-point-seven years. Montgomery said under current laws, convicts must serve at least 85-percent of their sentence. That means a person convicted of this offense must serve at least four years.

The study has been taken off Shared Hope International's website.
