Man Stopped at Metro Station Had Huge Cache of Weapons

A man caught urinating at a Metro Station outside a Metro station in Pasadena, California was found carrying a duffel bag with a rifle, high capacity magazines, and a long knife.

According to L.A. County Sheriff Jim McDonnell, deputies out on patrol stopped 28-year-old Christopher Goodine, while he was relieving himself outside the Sierra Madre Metro station. A search of the man's duffel bag revealed a loaded AR-15 rifle, two loaded 30 round magazines, a loaded .40 caliber handgun with extended magazines, silencers, and a machete-type knife.

Authorities also found a notebook with writings in a foreign language.

The Sheriff's department says that based on what they know now, there's no intelligence that indicated a connection with terrorism. However, McDonnell said what the man was carrying around with him, is worrying.

"We have somebody who's walking around with this type of weaponry, this much ammunition, the outcome would not have been good no matter what he was going to do," McDonnell said.

Investigators aren't sure if the man planned any sort of attack.

"We could have had a tragedy today in Los Angeles," McDonnell said.
