Phoenix Hiring Dozens Of Firefighters

The Phoenix Fire Department is adding dozens of firefighters thanks to a grant from the Department of Homeland Security.  The City of Phoenix is getting more than $5 million in grant money. Those funds will allow the Phoenix Fire Department to hire 32 new firefighters over the next three years.  The department has 58 fire stations and is responsible for protecting residents and their property over 519 square miles.  The Phoenix Fire Department has responded to more than 140,000 calls for service so far this year.
