A new discovery appears to hint that Mars may have once had the right conditions for life. Scientists have already found evidence that rivers once flowed on the Red Planet, but a new study notes that boron has also been found. That's important because scientists believe the element could be an important ingredient in ribonucleic acid, a vital building block in life as we know it. Given the right set of circumstances, it could be a sign that life could have existed on Mars. The boron was discovered by the NASA Curiosity rover.
The study is published in "Geophysical Research Letters."
