ADOT, NWS Team Up To Alert Drivers To Dust Storms

Arizona is using cutting edge technology to help keep you safe.  The Arizona Department of Transportation and National Weather Service are working to use upgraded technology during dangerous dust storms.

ADOT says sensors will be installed every half mile along Interstate 10 near State Route 87 where the majority of dust-related accidents occur.

They'll provide readings on highway visibility, transmit it to emergency messages on overhead signs, urging drivers to slow down.

The team effort is the first of it's kind in the country.
