Court Challenge To Clean Energy Petitions

(Phoenix, AZ)  --  The fate of Arizona's clean energy initiative could be decided in court.  Today the group "Arizonans 4 Affordable Electricity" filed a lawsuit in Arizona Superior Court alleging that the "Clean Energy for a Healthy Arizona" initiative did not gather the signatures required to qualify for the November ballot.  The suit alleges that the group only collected about half the number of valid signatures needed.  The initiative would require Arizona's public utilities get half of their power from renewable sources by the year 2030.  Utility companies have been fighting against the measure.
