Deputy Accused Of Stealing Money from Dead Body

A Maricopa County sheriff's deputy is under arrest for allegedly stealing cash from a dead person.  The Sheriff's Office says that in October, 39-year-old Deputy Gregory Todd Johnson responded to a call about a dead body in Mesa.  Investigators say they reviewed body camera footage of the call after receiving a tip, and Johnson later admitted to taking money from the victim.

Sheriff Paul Penzone says in a statement that the swift investigation, arrest and termination are part of his commitment to and accountability for MCSO employees.
