LISTEN: Amazon Sued For Being Unfriendly To Transgender Workers

It is common knowledge that employers cannot discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin according to Title VII, but what about gender identity? This question is top of mind for corporations nationwide on the heels of a major lawsuit filed last week against by a transgender woman and her husband who allege that the online retailer failed to address harassment by coworkers at a fulfillment center in Kentucky where they both worked. What are this couple’s legal workplace rights, and how can valley businesses educate themselves on transgender employment issues to avoid this type of liability?
