LISTEN: Amazon Sued For Being Unfriendly To Transgender Workers

posted by Holly Morgan -

It is common knowledge that employers cannot discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin according to Title VII, but what about gender identity? This question is top of mind for corporations nationwide on the heels of a major lawsuit filed last week against Amazon.com by a transgender woman and her husband who allege that the online retailer failed to address harassment by coworkers at a fulfillment center in Kentucky where they both worked. John Balitis, chair of the employment and labor relations practice group at Fennemore Craig, answers our questions.
