The White House released some of President Trump's tax information after MSNBC host Rachel Maddow promised to release his 2005 year's tax return on her show. In a statement the White House said that in 2005 Trump paid $38-million in taxes on more than $150-million in income. It also said that he paid tens of millions of dollars more in sales, excise and employment taxes.
The White House blasted the illegal leak, saying "you know you are desperate for ratings when you are willing to violate the law" and blamed the media for making the tax returns an issue.
President Trump has refused to release his tax returns, claiming he is under audit. He has pledged to release them after the audit is complete.
