Two liberal television personalities suggested on Tuesday that embattled former National Security Adviser Susan Rice is being unfairly attacked because of her race and gender.
MSNBC host Chris Matthews and Mother Jones writer David Corn both commented that the recent controversy of Rice’s alleged ‘unmasking’ of senior Trump officials was somehow related to her being a ‘black woman’.
“Did she do something wrong? There is no information indicating that. So they are making her, you know, basically they're defaming her without any reason to do so because she's a woman. Maybe because she's a black woman. Maybe because they didn't like her during Benghazi,” Corn told Matthews.
“Notice it's always a female? Just a thought,” said the liberal host.
Matthews has repeatedly claimed that the Susan Rice ‘unmasking’ reports that came to light last week were merely a ‘distraction’ from the real issue: the Russian intrusion on the US election.
Rice recently spoke to the liberal network, telling MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell that any 'unmasking' of individuals by her or other Obama officials was routine and part of her job as National Security Adviser.
