Rep. Jesus Rubalcava ,a Democratic state representative in Arizona, said he wanted to “punch her in the throat!” in a Facebook conversation about State Sen. Debbie Lesko. because she sponsored legislation expanding the state’s school voucher program. Rep.
Jesus Rubalcava has since deleted the post but it was captured from Facebook and posted online.
Sen. Debbie Lesko responded to the comments in a statement to the Arizona Republic.
“As a survivor of domestic violence from a previous marriage, I wanted to punch her in the throat’ was very disturbing and totally inappropriate especially since he is an elementary school teacher and legislator,” “I hope in the future that he debates issues based on their merit in a civil manner.”
Rep. Jesus Rubalcava has apologized on the House floor for the comment.
