Police in Arizona say they arrested a heavily armed man during the first day of the Phoenix ComiCon event at the Phoenix Convention Center. Police yesterday said the 30-year-old man was pointed out by a woman as being suspicious. He struggled with officers before he was taken into custody. He was carrying quite an arsenal of weapons on him. Sergeant Mercedes Fortune says the man admitted his plan was to harm police officers. He was arrested outside the ComiCon event, which had about 25-thousand people attending at the time.
As a result of the arrest, there will be enhanced security and imitation weapons will be tagged.
Our co-worker PM was there and was working with brother station MIX FM. He snapped the photos and then texted FM host Mathew Blades about what was going on.
MIke Broomhead has PM in studio to talk about what happened. Listen to their conversation below.
