#RedforEd declares social media "mental warfare”

AEU Leader Joe Thomas was part of a meeting at the Arizona Capitol with members of the Arizona legislatures, teachers, and #RedforEd leadership. The question of answer session was mostly about funding for education in our state but there was a moment where the #RedforEd educators getting advice from elected officials about using social media to influence Arizona politicians.

Rep. Reginald Bolding talk about the importance of Social media to get the #RedforEd message across. Even if #RedforEd doesn’t get a response he wants them to know that members see it and it affects them.

“You would be surprised how much legislators look at their Tweets. Like literally in the room there are members like I got beat up on twitter. So we need to get this done. It’s those same things. The consistency of making sure that legislators know that you are watching is important. They may not respond but they see it. “

Sen Martin Quezada takes that point to the next level saying that using social media is part of the “mental warfare” in fighting for what the teachers want.
