RedForEd is asking all teachers in Arizona to wear red on October 24th to show solidarity with their union "brothers and sisters" striking in Chicago. One of their leaders is Rebecca Garelli who is from Chicago and said she was "proud to have been a part of a militant labor movement" and was bringing it to Arizona. They are also going to protest at the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) convention in December. This is and always has been a movement to organize the union. It was never about a pay raise. They aren't even trying to hide it anymore. So if you don't want to see Arizona become Chicago where teachers abandon the classroom and demand things like affordable housing (which has nothing to do with their job) then we better pay attention to the actions of these union organizers.
