Ducey Stops ASU Vaccine Mandate.

Arizona Governor Doug Ducey is issuing an executive order aimed at stopping ASU from implementing a COVID vaccine mandate.

Ducey explaining, 'under the Executive Order, students cannot be mandated to take the COVID-19 vaccine or submit COVID-19 vaccination documents. Students also cannot be mandated to be tested or wear masks in order to participate in learning.'

Arizona State has planned on requiring students to show proof of vaccination in order to return to in-person learning for the fall semester. The Executive Order says, 'the policy adopted by Arizona State University attempts to usurp the Constitutional authority of the Executive and the Legislature.'

In other words, ASU has no legal authority to issue such a mandate. Only the Governor can.

Additionally, in the Executive Order, Ducey writes, 'no person should be compelled to disclose to a government entity as a condition of attending classes, receiving services, or participating in activities without a demonstrated compelling need, except as provided by state law.'
