Crime is up everywhere. Shootings up are 73% in New York City year over year. Murders in our nation's most populated city are up 22 percent. In Chicago, homicides are up the same percentage. In L.A., they are up 27%. Portland, Or. is seeing an 800% jump in murders.
Some Democrats are still calling for a 'reimagining of public safety' despite all of this. Congressman Ayanna Pressley saying just that. Watch.
As Al Jazeera points out:
Minneapolis and Portland were at the forefront of police defunding, but their police budgets were cut by 5 percent and 4 percent, respectively...
Los Angeles and Chicago cut their budgets to a similar degree, by about 5 percent in LA and 3 percent in Chicago.
Those cuts clearly didn't have the intended results activists hoped for.
