The Maricopa Board of Supervisors will not petition a judge to extend primary voting hours. County Board Chairman Steve Chucri said in a statement the board encourages any voter who wants to cast their ballot to be in line at their designated polling place by 7 p.m. and their vote will be counted.
County Recorder Adrian Fontes asked the board to petiton a judge to extend voting hours after 62 voting precincts were up and running when polls opened this morning.
Fontes blames a contractor hired to assemble the polling places.
