(Peoria, AZ) -- A suspect who was shot by a Peoria police officer Monday night has died from his injuries. 20-year-old Michael Stout was pronounced dead Tuesday at the hospital where he was being treated. Officers say they were called to a Walmart near 75th Avenue and Peoria for a shoplifter. They say when they approached Stout, he pulled out a gun and fired at officers. They returned fire, striking Stout. No officers were hurt. Detectives are investigating if the officers were justified in their use of force.
