If there is a federal government shutdown, the Grand Canyon will remain open to visitors, thanks to a plan put in place by the state and local businesses. Governor Doug Ducey's office says that under the Grand Canyon Protection Plan, the Arizona Office of Tourism and Arizona State Parks & Trails will work with cities, merchants and the federal government to keep visitor services open, including access to trails, campsites and restrooms, shuttle bus service, trash collection and snow removal. The plan will also allow tours, lodging and food services to remain in operation.
