Politics is filled with hyperbole. It always has been. In, 2021, hyperbole is being heightened to a new level.
Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is part of the progressive wing of the Democratic party. Hyperbole is part of her charm. Her extreme exaggerations make headlines on cable news and trend on social media.
Today's example: AOC is accusing Democrat Senator Joe Manchin of 'killing people' because of his 'weekly huddles w/Exxon.'
AOC's tweet comes after Manchin is starting to question his party's $3.5 trillion dollar 'infrastructure' package focused on green energy. Machin said, “I, for one, won’t support a $3.5 trillion bill, or anywhere near that level of additional spending, without greater clarity about why Congress chooses to ignore the serious effects inflation and debt have on existing government programs.”
Ocasio-Cortez continued, 'at least 12 (were killed) last night. Sick of this “bipartisan” corruption that masquerades as clear-eyed moderation.' The 12 she's talking about were killed during massive rain and flooding in New York, New Jersey, & Pennsylvania after what's left of Hurricane Ida came through. Remember, Democrats love to politicize death.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer jumped in. The New York Democrats saying, "global warming is upon us. When you get two record rainfalls in a week, it's not a coincidence…And it's going to get worse and worse and worse until we do something about it."
The Democrats answer, 'do something about it.'
'Something' includes taking more of your money and creating the same subsidies they hate that are given to Big Oil and transferring or add them to Big Green companies. So AOC and Schumer are not only being hyperbolic, they are being hypocritical as well.
Additionally, they are being political. Schumer is hoping to ward off a potential primary challenge for the New York Senate seat he currently holds. Ocasio-Cortez is using her hyperbolic literary skills to gain attention on social media in case she wants to run against Schumer next year.
Plus, they both have seen polls indicating how important climate change is to younger voters. Younger voters both AOC and Schumer are trying to get political donations from while vying for their votes in 2022.
In other words, they are playing you.
