New Times Report: Videos Contradict Channel 12 News Report

The Phoenix New Times is reporting on surveillance video that shows reporter Bryan West may not have reported everything he witnessed when the monument at Wesley Bolin Memorial Plaza was vandalized. In his report West stated that they witnessed someone one leaving the scene of the monument on a bicycle and then realized it was spray painted.

The New Times has discovered surveillance video that they believe Channel 12 news should have known more than just someone leaving the scene. Here is a quote from the article.

Yet as one of the videos shows, the news van's headlights were pointed at the memorial before, during, and after the incident, illuminating it as the suspect spray-painted the monument.

The New Times reports the man who did the vandalizing was near the news van both before and after the monument was spray painted.

The suspect appears to have ridden or walked near the van before and after the incident, which is still being investigated by the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
