Prosecutors Ask Judge To Dismiss Arpaio's Case

Federal prosecutors went back before a judge Monday morning, asking that the criminal-contempt case against Joe Arpaio be dismissed.  U.S. Department of Justice attorneys are in agreement with the motion by the former Maricopa County Sheriff's attorneys, saying the Court should "dismiss the case as moot". Prosecutors cited President Trump’s pardon of Arpaio which effectively ended the case.  Federal Judge Susan Bolton scheduled a hearing for October 4 on whether she should dismiss the case.  If the court does dismiss, the criminal-contempt charge would be wiped from Arpaio's record.
