Arizona is getting over three million dollars from the federal government to prevent and stop opioid addiction. It's part of more than 144-million in national grants from the U.S. Department of Health Services.
The money will be used to train responders in using overdose-reversing drugs, like Narcan, and improving access to treatment centers. A majority of the funding will go towards helping treat babies born addicted to opioids and rehabilitating their mothers.
