A young student in Chandler is facing charges for bringing a gun and ammunition to school. The seventh-grade student at Santan Junior High School had a revolver and a box of ammunition inside his backpack this week.
Campus officials learned about the weapon after another student tipped them off. Police were called in and the 13-year-old was hauled off in handcuffs.
Investigators say the teen never made any threats and never took the gun out of his backpack while on school grounds. It's unclear where the kid got the gun in the first place.
