Drones Banned Over Ten National Landmarks

Beginning today, the Federal Aviation Administration is banning drone flights over Independence Hall in Philadelphia, the Statue of Liberty, Hoover Dam, and seven other national landmarks.  The FAA says the ban is at the request of national security and law enforcement officials.  Drones are not permitted to fly within 400 feet under the new regulation.  The FAA says violators face civil penalties and possible criminal charges.  A similar ban covers military bases around the nation.

The list of monuments includes Boston National Historical Park (USS Constitution), Boston; Folsom Dam, Folsom, California; Glen Canyon Dam, Lake Powell, Arizona; Grand Coulee Dam, Grand Coulee, Washington; Jefferson National Expansion Memorial, St. Louis, Missouri; Mount Rushmore National Memorial, Keystone, South Dakota; Shasta Dam, Shasta Lake, California.
