(Phoenix, AZ) Phoenix city councilwoman Kate Gallego announces she'll be running to replace Greg Stanton as mayor of Phoenix. Stanton announced last week he'll be running for the congressional seat currently held by Kyrsten Sinema. Sinema announced the week before she's running for the U.S. senate seat currently held by Republican Jeff Flake. Gallego joins Daniel Valenzuela as the second Democrat on the city council to announce a run for mayor. Stanton will have to resign once he files paperwork for his run for congress. That's due in May of next year
