Yarnell Wildfire-based Movie Opens in Tempe

(KFYI News) – Celebrities will be walking the red carpet in Tempe on Tuesday evening.

The occasion: The premier of the film, "Only the Brave", based on the true story of Arizona's Granite Mountain Hotshots.

The elite crew of firefighters battled a wildfire in Yarnell, Arizona, in June of 2013 that claimed the lives of 19 of the 20 members of the team after the fire suddenly changed direction and moved toward where the Granite Mountain Hotshots were stationed before they could get to safety.

Actors Josh Brolin, Miles Teller, and James Badge Dale will walk the carpet set up outside of Harkins Tempe Marketplace between 6 and 7 pm on Tuesday.

Country star Dierks Bentley, who grew up in the Valley and performs a song in the movie's soundtrack, will also make an appearance.

Ironically, the film was shot in New Mexico, which gives a tax break to film makers, something Arizona does not do.

The showing itself is an invitation-only event for first responders.  The film opens nationally on October 20.
