New Plans For Tent City

Maricopa County Sheriff Runs Tent City Jail For Immigrant Prisoners

(Phoenix, AZ)  The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office announces new plans for an old facility.  Tent City is now officially closed, but Sheriff Paul Penzone says the space will now be used for a drug treatment program for inmates.  The MOSIAC program focuses on reducing recidivism and is now expanding from 500 inmates to nearly 800.  He says the refurbishing of the space to accommodate the inmates came at no cost to taxpayers.  Sheriff Penzone says the move turns an inhumane facility into one that will help inmates become productive members of society.
