Senator John McCain is leaving little doubt that he was referring to President Trump's foreign policy during his Liberty Medal acceptance speech.
The Arizona Republican accepted the award in Philadelphia last night and delivered an eleven-minute thank-you speech. While not mentioning the President by name, McCain alluded to the Trump administration's foreign policy as unpatriotic pseudo-nationalism that is damaging to both the United States and the world.
Former Vice President Joe Biden presented the award to McCain. Former President Obama tweeted out a message of congratulations and thanks to Senator McCain. Obama wrote that he is grateful to McCain for his lifetime of service to the country.
