Lawmaker Says She Was Harassed by Colleagues

A Republican state lawmaker says she is a victim of sexual harassment, and it happened at the State Capital.

State Representative Michelle Ugenti-Rita says in on a post on her facebook page that almost immediately upon her arrival to the capitol, she experienced unwanted sexual advances and lewd and suggestive comments regarding her body and appearance from male colleagues.  She added she faced retailiation for reporting the harassment.

Ugenti-Rita did not name, names, but said she feels a responsibility to speak out because the Hollywood scandal has exposed "a systemic problem that has existed in many places for a very long time."  She adds she wants House and Senate leadership to create a formal process that allows people to "feel safe" to report instances of harassment.
