A former aide to President Trump's campaign says Arizona Senator Jeff Flake's decision to retire from the Senate is another scalp for one-time White House chief strategist Steve Bannon.
Sam Nunberg reportedly told the "Washington Post" yesterday that Flake is the third scalp Bannon has claimed this year. The others are retiring Tennessee Senator and Trump critic Bob Corker, and Alabama Senator Luther Strange. Strange lost a primary election last month to Bannon favorite Roy Moore.
Bannon and Fox News host Laura Ingraham campaigned in Arizona last week for former state Senator Kelli Ward. Ward is running for the GOP U.S. Senate nomination and polls showed her ahead of Flake.
