Get ready for back-ups and delays as State Route 51 will be shutdown in sections over the weekend for a pavement-improvement project.
Doug Nintzel of the Arizona Department of Transportation said northbound 51 will be closed between the I-10 mini-stack to the Loop 101 on Saturday. Southbound 51 will see closures through the same stretch on Sunday.
Drivers should use I-17 or the Loop 101 as an alternate.
Work on the improvement project should be wrapped up by five Sunday evening.
