Phoenix City Council Will Address A Bump Stock Ban

The Phoenix City Council will address a citizen petition to ban the sale of bump stocks in city limits.

It was one month ago today gunman, Stephen Paddock, opened fire on a crowd of country music concertgoers on the Las Vegas Strip, leaving 58 people dead.  Paddock used bump stocks to modify his firearms.

If the city council passes a ban it would be a violation of state law.  Municipalities do not have the power to enact their own gun laws or they could face penalties, such has losing state-shared revenue funds.

The Tucson City Council passed a resolution last week urging state and federal lawmakers to take action on bump stocks or allow city leaders to enact gun laws.
