A former NFL player and Phoenix-area resident is accused of murder and kidnapping in two separate cases. Police say Anthony McClanahan stabbed his wife to death at a Park City hotel on Thursday. The Salt Lake Tribune reports McClanahan had bonded out of a Utah jail October 19th where he was awaiting extradition to Maricopa County on first-degree kidnapping charges.
He's accused of taking his 8-year-old-son out of school and then out of state early last month without the permission of the child's mother, who is not his wife. He was arrested a week later in the kidnapping case. He posted $150,000 bail.
Police say they were flagged down after someone heard a noise in a room at the Park Regency Hotel. Inside they found his wife, 28-year-old Keri McClanahn dead with fatal knife wounds to her throat. Forty-six year old McClanahan was a linebacker for the Cowboys in the 1990's.
