McCain Comments On Trump's "Pocahantas" Remark

Senator John McCain is speaking out about President Trump's "Pocahontas" remark during an event honoring Navajo code-talkers.

On Twitter, the Arizona Republican commented that the code talkers helped win World War Two with their bravery and skill.  He added that, quote, "politicizing these genuine American heroes is an insult to their sacrifice."

During the White House event yesterday honoring the code-talkers, Trump had made the "Pocahontas" reference to Democratic Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren.  Warren had claimed in the past to have been descended from Native Americans.  Warren is calling the remark a racial slur.

White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said the real outrage is Warren's claim of being descended from Native Americans to further her career.
