Joe Arpaio heads back to court today. A federal lawsuit was filed against the former Maricopa County Sheriff by Senator Jeff Flake's son Austin Flake.
He accuses Arpaio of malicious prosecution over what he claims was a baseless criminal animal cruelty case against him. The younger Flake maintains the investigation was simply an effort to defame his father.
Flake was investigated after the air conditioning failed at his then-wife's parent's dog kennel. More than 20 dogs died of heat exhaustion.
