Former Sheriff Joe Arpaio is expected to be on the stand Wednesday in a civil malicious prosecution lawsuit.
The suit filed by Senator Jeff Flake's son and ex-daughter-in-law. They alleged that Arpaio pursued animal cruelty charges against Austin Flake and his ex-wife to defame Arizona's junior Senator.
In court paperwork, Flake's attorney claims the former sheriff tried to link Senator Flake to dog kennel deaths by conducting surveillance on the Senator's home and going over phone records to see if he was in contact with his son at the time an air conditioning unit failed leading to the heat exhaustion deaths of over 20 dogs.
The pair is asking for four million dollars.
