Ex-Mesa Cop Had Prior Internal Investigation

The former Valley cop who was acquitted last week in the on-duty shooting death of an unarmed man, is no stranger to an Internal Affairs investigation.

Philip Brailsford was found not guilty of second degree murder in the shooting death of Daniel Shaver.

Brailsford was previously investigated by Internal Affairs along with three other officers for using an inappropriate amount of force while arresting two men in 2015.

According to "TMZ," Brailsford was investigated for body slamming a teenager and it was caught on video.  Two other officers used a similar tactic to take down another man.

The suspects were booked for criminal damage, aggravated assault, and resisting arrest.  All officers were eventually cleared.
